Spontaneous beach outing

On Tuesday we decided to head to the beach.  No planning, no notice, just go!  It was spectacular!  We got up, put our suits on packed a cooler, towels and beach chairs and went on our way.  It's a short 3 hour drive to the beach.  Mind you, it's the Texas beach - Port Aransas to be exact.  It's not beautiful Clearwater, Florida but it was perfect for a quick, impromptu trip!

We grabbed the Monkey's best friend and took off just for the day.

Honey and I sat on the shore soaking up the sun and watching the girls.  It was "partly cloudy" and the breeze was perfect.  I did get a little pink because I didn't put on sunblock until I got everyone settled but I'm kinda glad to have some color.

After a few hours on the beach, we showered and changed and headed down the beach to Virginia's for dinner.  It was dee-lish.  After we stuffed ourselves (and I had two Pina Coladas, which was one too many), we headed home.

So, maybe 6 hours in the car doesn't sound worth it but it certainly was!  Considering we got plenty of sun I don't think we actually needed another day anyway.  At least not this week.

We have decided that we will have to make this little trip more often.  Although we might decide to spend the night and make it a two day trip instead of just one.
